San Francisco 49ers rookie and former University of Missouri star Aldon Smith was arrested on Saturday morning in Miami Beach after being pulled over by police. He was charged with driving under the influence. He was booked at 9:32 am and bond was set at $1,000.
The seventh overall selection in the 2011 NFL draft, Smith was a star for the 49ers, recording 14 sacks from his outside linebacker position. That total was only half a sack behind the rookie regular season record set in 1999 by Jevon Kearse. This is bad timing for Smith as we are just a week away from the NFL Rookie of the Year being announced. Smith and Von Miller of the Denver Broncos were the two defensive rookies that stuck out above the rest this season.
