Aldon Smith, Von Miller Among Rookies Vying For Pepsi NFL Award

NFL's Pepsi Rookie of the Year Award voting is still going on here, and you can determine who wins. If you're a Missouri football fan, then Aldon Smith should be your pick. If you root for the AFC West, then Von Miller is your target. If you like a good smile, Cam Newton is available. Andy Dalton and Patrick Peterson are also available to vote for, although returns aside, Peterson was rather vulnerable as a defender.

Smith's 14 sacks could put him over the top of MIller, but Newton's high profile will be tough to beat. Still the former Mizzou star has a strong resume and already won the weekly award on multiple occasions.

His profile reads, "Smith, the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Missouri, played in all 16 games for the 49ers. Smith tallied 14 sacks on the season, placing him in a tie for fifth among all NFL defenders. He finished the season just a half sack short of the single season rookie record. On the year, he also added 37 stops, including 31 solo tackles, four passes defensed, two fumbles forced, one fumble recovered and a safety. Smith was nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week three times, winning the award twice."
