Phil Pressey named SB Nation preseason All-American

The junior guard led the Big 12 in assists and steals in 2011-12, and will be relied upon to lead a team that won last year's Big 12 tournament.

Missouri Tigers guard Phil Pressey has been named a second team preseason All-American by SB Nation's college basketball writers.

The 5-foot-11 Pressey is joined by Florida State's senior guard Michael Snaer to round out the second team back court. The junior averaged 10.3 points, and led the Big 12 with 6.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game for the Tigers during the 2011-12 season. He is also considered a candidate for the 2013 Bob Cousy Award, which is given annually to college basketball's top point guard.

SB Nation's college basketball writers had the following to say about Pressey:

The diminutive Pressey is the guy who makes Frank Haith's style of play work. On a team with a few holdovers from last season's Big 12 tournament champions as well as some extremely talented newcomers, he'll be asked to spearhead the unification process.

The Tigers open the 2012-13 season with a game on Oct. 29 against Northwest Missouri State at Mizzou Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
