The Missouri Tigers landed three-star prospect Torren Jones this weekend during the 2013 power forward's official visit. A 6'7, 215 big man out of Chandler, Ariz., Jones is playing his senior year of high school at La Lumiere School in Indiana.
According to ESPN's scouting profile, Jones is a well-developed athlete who can explode to the rim with ease. He has a capable mid-range game and also has a jump-hook in his arsenal, but he has room for developing on the offensive end. ESPN's scouting services say Jones could also stand to loosen up his movements to better defend quicker college big men.
Jones transferred from Dobson High School in Mesa, Ariz., to play at La Lumiere, a college prep school in LaPorte, Ind.
He is the fourth commitment for head coach Frank Haith. He joins fellow power forward Johnathan Wililams III, point guard Wes Clark and point guard Travis Jorgenson. The commitments of Jones and Williams III are important with the graduation of Laurence Bowers and Alex Oriakhi after the 2012-13 season.
