Media members are taking notice of the Missouri Tigers entering their first basketball season in the SEC, and point guard Phil Pressey has been named as the conference's preseason player of the year, according to the Tigers' website.

The junior enters the 2012-13 season as an All-American candidate after averaging 10.3 points and 6.4 assists per game for the Tigers last season. Pressey is one of two returning players for Frank Haith's team that went 30-5 last year as part of the Big 12.

Pressey spent the summer playing in the invite-only LeBron James, Chris Paul and Deron Williams skill camps.

In the SEC Preseason Media Poll, Missouri shooting guard Mike Dixon was named as an SEC second-team player in the voting. Dixon averaged 13.5 points while coming off the bench last year.

The Tigers received 286 votes in the preseason poll to finish third in the conference behind the Kentucky Wildcats' 328 votes and the Florida Gators' 310 votes.
