Despite their incredibly and disappointingly early exit from the NCAA tournament last season, the Missouri Tigers established themselves as a contender in the college basketball landscape. Before getting unceremoniously dropped from the first round by No. 15 Norfolk State, the Tigers had a wonderful 30-win season and earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament.
AOL's power rankings for the college basketball preseason are out, and the Tigers made the top 10 not only because of their solid squad that won 30 games last year, but because of one of the best transfer classes in the nation:
Coach Frank Haith has assembled what might be the best transfer class ever, headlined by center Alex Oriakhi. How this group comes together will determine whether the Tigers make a deep run into the NCAA Tournament or struggle through an uneven season.
The Tigers will open their season against Northwest Missouri State on Oct. 29 at Mizzou Arena.
