Laurence Bowers named SEC Player of the Week

Bowers' bounce-back season continues and earlier this week he was named the SEC's Player of the Week.

The No. 7 Missouri Tigers are rolling, thanks in no small part to Laurence Bowers. The senior forward averaged 17 points, six rebounds and two assists while leading Mizzou to wins over South Carolina State and No. 10 Illinois last week, part of a stretch that has seen the Tigers six straight.

For his efforts, Bowers was named the Southeastern Conference's player of the week after also being named the National Player of the Week by ESPN's Andy Katz.

Bowers was huge against the Illini. He scored a team-high 23 points while pulling down 10 rebounds and dishing out four assists. He leads Mizzou (10-1) in both scoring (16.9 points per game) and rebounds (6.7) while shooting over 57 percent from the floor.

Bowers' success is particularly notable since he is coming off a lost season last year. While the Tigers were racking up 30 wins, Bowers was forced to watch from the sideline with a knee injury.
