While Kansas and Kansas State are also among a number of teams trying to recruit the best football player available in the state of Kansas, it’s Gary Pinkel’s Missouri Tigers who have the lead. Clay Rhodes is an offensive lineman listed as a three-star prospect and a top 50 nationally at his position. Apparently, Missouri’s move the SEC hasn’t hurt their chances locally.
"I’ve definitely felt most comfortable with the coaches on my visits at those three schools," Clay Rhodes said. "I feel I have the best opportunity to excel both as a student and an athlete at those three schools. The relationships that I’ve developed with the head coach and position coaches and all the coaches I’ve talked to felt different than all the other schools."
Missouri leads the suitors for him and other finalists include Arizona State and Oklahoma State. Others have offered across the Big Ten and Big 12, but it’s clear that those are his final three.
