Former Missouri linebacker Marcus Bacon died in a car accident on Friday in Houston.
While police have not released the name of the victim in the crash, the Columbia Tribune cited a spokesperson for the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, who identified Bacon as the driver.
Bacon reportedly was driving about 90 mph when he failed ot obvserve turn-only signals, struck a curb and flipped. There were no passengers in the car. KTRK reported that there was no reason to believe the driver was intoxicated.
Bacon played for Mizzou from 2003 to 2006, recording 232 career tackles and being named All-Big 12 in his senior season. Former Mizzou and current Atlanta Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon played as a freshman when Bacon was a senior, and posted about the news on his Twitter account on June 10.
