During the kickoff to SEC Media Days on Tuesday, Missouri Tigers head coach Gary Pinkel had plenty to say before he had his own press conference at the event.
Vahe Gregorian reports that Pinkel is confident that Mizzou quarterback James Franklin will fully recover from shoulder surgery by the time football camp begins. The junior QB is expected to be one of the top returning passers in the country in what will be his second year as a starter.
Franklin finished his 2011 season with just under 3,000 passing yards and just under 1,000 rushing yards. In addition, his 36 touchdowns was the third-highest total in Mizzou single-season history. Expectations are high for the young quarterback and an assurance from Pinkel of returning at full strength will likely put MU fans at ease.
