While Gary Pinkel answered several questions about all aspects of the Missouri Tigers football program yesterday in his introductory presser on the first day of the SEC Media Days in Birmingham, Alabama, it was inevitable that the subject of the recent commitment of top rated recruit Dorial Green-Beckham would come up. For those curious about how the wide receiver is doing, the reports are very positive coming from Pinkel.
"As you all know, he was the No. 1 ranked player last year," said Pinkel. "Fortunately for us, he came to Missouri. He's been working hard all summer. Some of the players that come by my office, they talk about Dorial, they talk about what a great kid he is. All this attention for the last few years, that's encouraging. I think that's really the reason why he has a chance to become a great player, because he's humble, he wants to learn, he's a great competitor."
That said, Pinkel did make it clear that DGB would not receive the red carpet treatment when it comes down to earning time on the field.
"Anybody that comes into our football program, Jeremy Maclin, I can go on and on, come in and play at freshmen, you start at the bottom of the list and work your way up," he continued. "That's where he is, at the bottom of the list. He'll compete to get playing time, help us win football games. I know he's excited about doing it. We'll get going on that August 2nd."
