Missouri's Kenronte Walker Named SEC Defensive Player Of Week

Integral in Missouri's narrow 24-20 victory over Arizona State on Saturday, Tigers strong safety Kenronte Walker was rewarded with SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his standout performance.

The redshirt senior halted a Sun Devils drive in the fourth quarter with a heady pass knockdown, and then followed that up with a game-sealing interception on Arizona State's next possession in the waning minutes. Though he finished the day with only two tackles, the 6'0, 210-pound defensive back rumbled for 49 yards after his game-winning interception and was a factor in passing game all afternoon.

Originally a junior college transfer from City College of San Francisco, Walker tallied 44 tackles last season at free safety before coming into his own down the stretch. He was named the most improved safety on the spring roster heading into Missouri's 2012 campaign, and looks to be flourishing in his new role on the strong side.
