Following an impressive 2011-12 season that saw them lose to the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been given 7/2 odds to win the 2012-13 NBA Championship, according to a report from The Sporting News.
In June, the Thunder and Heat opened as 5/2 co-favorites to win the title, but after the Los Angeles Lakers landed Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, the odds shifted. Now, the Lakers and Heat are co-favorites to take home the hardware at 9/4 odds, and the Thunder trail just behind.
Oklahoma City are the clear favorites to win the Western Conference's Northwest Division with 1/18 odds, ahead of the Denver Nuggets at 7/1 and the Utah Jazz at 20/1. Oddsmakers from SuperBook have pegged the Thunder to win 60.5 games in 2012-13, tying them with the Heat for the highest win-total projection.
The 2011-12 Thunder went 47-19 in a lockout-shortened season.
