The Oklahoma City pushed their record to 7-3 and added to their lead in the Northwest Division with a 110-95 win over the New Orleans Hornets on Friday night. The Thunder bounced back from a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies earlier in the week, led by Kevin Durant's 27 points and nine rebounds.
The Thunder have now won six of their last seven games as they continue to adjust to playing without James Harden. The Thunder also benefited from losses by teams chasing them in the Northwest.
The Golden State Warriors ran past the Minnesota Timberwolves, 106- 98 behind 18 points from rookie Harrison Barnes. Derrick Williams scored 23 points for Minnesota.
On Thursday night, the Denver Nuggets came up short in their fourth-quarter comeback bid, losing 98-93 to the Miami Heat. LeBron James was too much for the Nuggets with 27 points and 12 assist.
The Portland Trail Blazers beat the Houston Rockets, 119-117 on Friday to move into a tie with the Nuggets with a 4-5 record. Nicolas Batum scored 35 points for the Blazers while rookie point guard Damian Lilard added 27 points with five assists.
In other action, the Memphis Grizzlies continue to impress after beating the New York Knicks on Friday night, 105-95 to hand the Knicks their first loss of the season. The seventh straight win for the Grizzlies capped off a a big week for Memphis which included wins over the Miami and Oklahoma City.
