NBA power rankings 2012: Thunder No. 5 in SB Nation's latest

Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder are fifth in SB Nation's latest power rankings.

After winning three of four games last week, the Oklahoma City Thunder find themselves right where they were last week -- at least in SB Nation's latest power rankings.

The Thunder rank fifth in SB Nation's latest power rankings, exactly where they were ranked last week. Oklahoma City notched wins over the Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Hornets and Golden State Warriors last week, but did lose to the Memphis Grizzles -- the same Grizzles who are ranked No. 1 in SB Nation's power rankings.

Seth Rosenthal explains his rationale for putting the Thunder fifth:

It was reassuring -- of Oklahoma City's status and just of the planet's gravitational pull -- to see the Thunder soundly thump the Hornets and Warriors after nearly crapping a game away in Detroit and dropping one to Memphis. Now let's see how that momentum carries them into Wednesday's match-up with the Clippers. Let's see. We'll just sit here and wait. Wait, did you bring a snack? Oh wow, baby carrots. Probably not enough to share, though. I never think of these things.

Oklahoma City currently ranks third in the league in scoring, averaging 101.7 points per game. Defensively, the Thunder allow opponents to score just 95.2 points per game, which ranks 12th in the league.

The Thunder will take on the Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers this week, and will try to notch three wins and make a case that to move up in next week's power rankings.
