2012 NBA standings: Thunder among top teams in the league

It's still November, but the Oklahoma City Thunder have a 3-game lead in their division.

Mark D. Smith-US PRESSWIRE

Following a win over former employee James Harden and the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, the Oklahoma City Thunder are 12-4 and find themselves right among the top teams in the NBA.

OKC is just a half-game behind the Memphis Grizzlies (11-2) for the top spot in the Western Conference and is just percentage points behind the San Antonio Spurs (13-3). The Thunder's .750 winning percentage is the fourth-best mark in the NBA in the early-going, behind Memphis, San Antonio and the Eastern Conference-leading Miami Heat (10-3).

While Memphis and San Antonio duke it out for the top spot in the Southwest Division, OKC is sitting pretty atop the Northwest Division, three games ahead of the Utah Jazz (9-7) and 3 1/2 ahead of the Denver Nuggets (8-7). The Minnesota Timberwolves (6-8) are five games back and the Portland Trail Blazers (6-9) are 5 1/2 back.
