NBA scores: Thunder, Timberwolves only Northwest Division winners on Friday

Oklahoma City and Minnesota both won their first regular season game while the remaining teams in the Northwest Division lost on Friday night.

The competitive Northwest Division makes every win valuable and on Friday night the Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves earned their first wins of the season. Meanwhile, the rest of the teams in the division lost on the road.

Kevin Durant led the Thunder past the Portland Trail Blazers with 23 points and 17 rebounds to even their record at 1-1 while the division-rival Blazers lost their first game after opening the season with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Minnesota finshed strong to finish off the visiting Sacramento Kings in the Timberwolves' season opener, 92-80. J.J. Barea came off the bench to lead the Wolves with 21 points and five assists.

The Utah Jazz let one slip away on the road as they lost to the New Orleans Hornets, 88-86. Greivis Vasquez scored with 1.3 seconds remaining to give the Hornets the win.

In the most surprising result of the night, the Denver Nuggets fell to 0-2 on the season after losing to the Orlando Magic, 102-89. Glen Davis worked over the Nuggets for 29 points while Danilo Gallinari led the Nuggets with 23 points.
