Winners of eight consecutive games, the Oklahoma City Thunder jumped up one spot to No. 2 overall in Seth Rosenthal's latest batch of SB Nation NBA power rankings.
The Thunder came in behind only San Antonio in the rankings, as the Spurs also currently sport an identical 17-4 record as Scott Brooks' team through roughly 25% of the season. Currently the two highest-scoring teams in the NBA as well, the Spurs and Thunder will next square off in a can't-miss game on Dec. 17 in Oklahoma City. Despite picking up a win over San Antonio earlier in the season, the Thunder still placed behind Tim Duncan's red-hot Spurs, who sport a remarkable 10-2 mark away from home this year.
With a loss to Atlanta over the weekend, the Memphis Grizzlies tumbled from the No. 2 spot last week down to No. 4 in Week 7, effectively opening a door for Oklahoma City to retain one of the top spots. The New York Knicks (No. 3) and Los Angeles Clippers (No. 5) each rounded out the top five, while LeBron James and the Miami Heat placed sixth.
