Chris Sheridan has the details on the newest members of the NBA's competition committee. Apparently they're not opposed to allowing the odd to join the proceedings given Dan Gilbert's inclusion. The awkward owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers was among the many newest members named today that also includes Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti.
Sheridan writes, "The members of the new Competition Committee are owners Gilbert and Joe Lacob (Golden State); general managers Bryan Colangelo (Toronto Raptors), Mitch Kupchak (L.A. Lakers), Kevin O'Connor (Utah Jazz), and Sam Presti (Oklahoma City); and coaches Rick Carlisle (Dallas Mavericks), Lionel Hollins (Memphis Grizzlies), and Doc Rivers (Boston Celtics). The NBPA will designate one of its members to serve on the committee."
Presti has become one of the best architects of an NBA roster in the league with the work he's done constructing the Thunder. Perhaps he can also bring his intellect and reason to the table for the NBA's future. It's an interesting restructuring that pares down the committee from every GM in the league to two owners, four GMs and a couple of head coaches.
