Thunder Vs. Spurs: Western Conference Finals Preview, Schedule And More

The Western Conference's top two teams are meeting up in the conference final round for a chance to compete for an NBA title.

Presswire

In a matchup between two of the NBA's most prolific offensive teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder go head-to-head with the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals.

Both teams have been impressive in these playoffs, particularly the Spurs who haven't lost a game since April 12, winning 18 straight through 10 regular season and eight playoff games. But what's different is the level of competition the two squads have had to go up against in the first two rounds of the postseason.

San Antonio defeated a pair of playoff lightweights in the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers in rounds one and two. The Jazz never stood much of a chance against the Spurs, while the Clippers are just now getting used to being relevant and going to obviously need time to develop their young pieces into a championship contending unit.

The Thunder, by contrast, took down the last two NBA champions, first the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers after that. Only the second team in NBA history to accomplish such a feat.

This series has the old school vs. new school narrative, but Tim Duncan, Derek Fisher and Manu Ginobili not withstanding, these are young teams with a lot of fire power. Whatever team makes it out of the Eastern Conference is going to have its hands full, no matter the outcome of this series.

Here is a look at the schedule for the first two games:

Game 1 - 5/27 - 8:30 PM (ET)‎

Game 2 - 5/29 ‎- 9:00 PM (ET)
