Anthony Davis Will Suit Up Against Dominican Republic, Could Be In Starting Lineup

With the Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin back in Southern California getting a MRI on his swollen left knee. Griffin will be examined on Sunday by Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, and an announcement will be made on Griffin's future as soon as the doctors and Clippers meet.

Team USA has called up No. 1 overall draft pick Anthony Davis to take Griffin's place in Thursday night's exhibition against the Dominican Republic in Las Vegas.

Davis had been suffering an ankle injury of his own during the final tryouts, but it has healed enough and it is possible that Davis could be in the starting lineup:

"The report that we got is that he was very active blocking shots and getting up and down the court," [Jerry] Colangelo said of Davis' recent workouts.

The United States team is already thin on big man with only New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler being the only true center on the team, so Team USA needed another big man which is likely why Davis is considered to be a starter.
