Anthony Davis made headlines last Thursday with his place atop the 2012 NBA Draft as the first overall selection of the New Orleans Hornets. Today he's making headlines of a different kind, the type that his new team hates to see.
Anthony Davis suffered a severely sprained ankle in a Hornets workout and almost assuredly is unable to play for Team USA, sources tell Y!

Since Davis is going to get shut down for the national team prepping for the Olympics, it opens the door for James Harden to potentially join the team. He's already a finalist but the Thunder guard is likely going to need some doors to open to make the roster given the presence of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant as well. The team will need a big man in the absence of Davis, but it is an opening on the team for Harden.
As for Davis, it's an unfortunate turn of events that will hopefully not sideline him any further than the Olympic games.
