In the final game of group play, Team USA is looking to rebound from their closer than expected win against Lithuania as they take on Argentina. This is the final game in group play and the United States is looking to stay undefeated. Going up against Argentina will be no easy task as they were able to cruise past Lithuania 102-97, but they also lost to France.
This will not be an easy game for the United States, and the history between these two teams will make the matchup even more interesting. Argentina was the first team to beat the United States using NBA players back at the 2002 World Championships, and they also defeated the United States in the semifinal match at the 2004 Olympic Games.
These two teams played an exhibition match prior to the Olympics and Team USA won a close match 86-80 in Barcelona. The style of play of Argentina is to annoy at the opposing team:
"They just try to get under our skins, they try to beat us up and it is what it is at this point," U.S. forward Carmelo Anthony said Sunday. "If you want to consider them a rival of the U.S., then so be it, but we'll be ready for them tomorrow."
