Here's your daily dose of Kansas City sports news....

Royals win again, three in a row

The Royals beat the Indians 9-7 on Wednesday night.

That means they've won three games in a row and two against the Indians. As Lou Brown would say, "That's called a winning streak."

The Royals will send out Kyle Davies tonight to try for the sweep.

Also, Bruce Chen's victory makes him tied with Zack Greinke for the team lead in wins.

Who would have thought that?

3,000 at Chiefs night practice

The Chiefs held a nice practice on Wednesday and it was attended by just 3,000 people. The first night practice had in the neighborhood of 8,000 people while a scrimmage brought in over 10,000.

The defense looked ahead of the offense on Wednesday evening with the quarterbacks throwing a few picks. There was however a nice, deep ball from Matt Cassel to Tony Moeaki that would have gone for six. That was the catch of the day.

Before practice the entire team signed autographs for the fans. And then after practice of course they did, too.

Casey Wiegmann, long-time Chief who had a two-year stint in Denver, was the last off the field.

Blaine Gabbert is "dialed in"

Even though much of this is to be expected considering he played so well last year, it's nice to hear that Blaine Gabbert is doing so well at Mizzou.

Someone asked me the other day if freshman quarterback James Franklin is putting any heat on Gabbert for the No. 1 job, and here’s how I handicap the QB derby: Franklin is gradually distancing himself from the other backup candidates for the No. 2 job … but the gap between Gabbert and Franklin for the No. 1 job is separated by miles.

Gabbert will be a first round pick in the NFL next April. The only question at this point is whether he's going to be a top ten pick.

C.J. Henry leaving KU was a bad secret

So many folks knew that C.J. Henry was more than likely to leave Kansas, right?

After the news break I saw several folks refer to it as the "worst kept secret" and I tend to agree.

My only question is: Why wait so long? KU's season ended in March and he waited until late July to tell Bill Self he was leaving?

He's not a scholarship player so it's not a huge deal but I can't figure out why he would have waited.
