Here's your daily dose of Kansas City sports news....

Chiefs lose 20-15 to the Bucs

The Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second week of preseason on Saturday night.

Highlights

Matt Cassel played OK going 14/19 for 125 yards and one touchdown

Both Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles looked sharp, but Jones did fumble once

Josh Freeman (from KC) broke his thumb and is out for the preseason

Javier Arenas is a pretty awesome return man

Overall, the operation more efficient, particularly the offense.

Maurice Leggett carted off

Chiefs safety Maurice Leggett was injured trying to tackle a Bucs player. The Chiefs are calling it a neck injury. All we know is that Leggett went down and trainers came out and tended to him for 10-15 minutes. Eventually they brought a cart out, loaded him on a stretcher and carried him out. His arms and legs were moving the entire time. He was even standing up before going back down to the ground. The Chiefs huddled in prayer after what was clearly a disturbing moment for them.

Royals split doubleheader

The Kansas City Royals on Saturday night played two games against the Chicago White Sox. The first game started at 6:10 p.m. so it was a long night with the second game not even starting until closer to 10:00 p.m.

They split the series. The Royals won the first game 6-5 thanks to a Yuniesky Betancourt grand slam and his 11th inning RBI that won the game. The White Sox won the second game 7-6 in the 10th inning.

That's 21 total innings in what, like, six hours?

They were playing a doubleheader because Friday night's game was rained/lightning'd out.

KU's Saturday scrimmage

Here's how KU head coach Turner Gill described the scrimmage.

"I thought things went okay today," Kansas head coach Turner Gill said. "The offense made some plays, and the offensive line did some things to open it up for us. But the defense needs to tackle better. That's something we're going to have to improve before our first game (in two weeks)."
