Good news, Kansas City Chiefs fans: RB Jamaal Charles is "fine" after leaving Friday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles with some sort of injury.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter:

All those tweets about Chiefs RB Jamal Charles? Charles just landed awkwardly on his funny bone last night. He is fine. Draft away.

"Draft away" is a reference to fantasy football where Charles is a popular man.

Charles went down late in the first half after catching a 20-yard pass from Matt Cassel. He didn't return to the game and made a few folks worry as the trainers looked at him holding his arm. Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star reports that Charles did have his shoulder looked at -- the same one he had surgery on over the offseason -- and iced after the game.

We'll see if it limits him in practice next week but it appears he's OK for the long-term.

Kansas City Chiefs "offensive weapon" Dexter McCluster played four positions in the 20-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the third preseason game.

Wide receiver: He only had three catches and totaled zero yards. There wasn't much of an impact here but he did make a catch and get drilled by an Eagle. The good news is that he popped right back up.

Running back: McCluster had eight carries for 47 yards including a 15-yard run. It's dangerous for the opponent when he gets into open space.

Kick returner: Here's where McCluster really had a good night. He had three returns and averaged 37 yards. His long of the night was 41 yards. It was a solid night for him.

Punt returner: Just one punt return for 14 yards. He said his "eyes lit up" when they asked him to return kicks and punts.

It's becoming clear that we can't pigeon-hole McCluster to just one position. He's taken more snaps at running back than he has receptions so his role is something to keep an eye on.

For the third consecutive Kansas City Chiefs preseason game, Jamaal Charles outplayed Thomas Jones.

On Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, Charles had 60 total yards on eight touches including two plays of 20 yards. Jones meanwhile had a touchdown but just 30 yards on ten carries.

Charles play as of late is probably why Todd Haley gave him the start against the Eagles.

Charles had another strong start showing he's one of the few Chiefs that can change the game in one play. He nearly broke a long touchdown run but was brought down from behind.

On the play, Charles hit the ground hard and came walking off the field. We're not sure what he injured but he did have shoulder surgery over the offseason so it's a situation to monitor.

In the end, it was Charles who once again had a better game than Jones.

The Kansas City Chiefs have won their first preseason game since Aug. 28, 2008.

That's the sentence I was going to write if the Eagles didn't go 80 yards in eight plays to beat the Chiefs.

Here are stats of the game. The post-game mourning is at Arrowhead Pride.

Here are a few highlights and lowlights from the game.

Highlights:

Chiefs defense dominated with five sacks and an interception. They had a terrific night.

Dexter McCluster had eight carries and three receptions. He also had two 30+ kick returns. He had a good night.

Andy Studebaker and Demorrio Williams each had two sack performances.

Dwayne Bowe led receivers with four receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown.

The Chiefs had a 16-play scoring drive.

Jamaal Charles had a 20-yard reception and a 20-yard run.

Lowlights:

The Chiefs offense was very average. They didn't do anything particularly impressive throughout the evening and benefited from the strong play of the defense.

On the Chiefs first three players, they fumbled twice losing one of them.

Cameron Sheffield went down with a neck injury. He was carted off and we're not sure where that stands.

The Chiefs allowed the Eagles to 80 yards in eight plays to win the game.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe is having another solid campaign against the Philadelphia Eagles. He had three receptions last week and continued that this week with four receptions for 32 yards in the first half against the Eagles.

Here's the breakdown of his receptions:

2nd and 12: 11 yard reception

1st and 10: 12 yard reception

3rd and 6: 5 yard reception

3rd and 4: 4 yard reception

That last one was also a touchdown.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a terrible start to their third preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

First play: Jamaal Charles fumbles and loses it.

Third play: Matt Cassel is sacked and fumbles but recovers it.

Cassel also later threw an interception.

Cassel, who was 0-for-3 at one point passing the ball, has slightly turned it around. He's now 9-of-13 for 53 yards with a touchdown pass to Dwayne Bowe and an interception. The yards per attempt number is not very good but he's completing passing so that's a start, I suppose.

Kevin Kolb is 3-of-10 for 19 yards at this point.

Considering the Chiefs offense has turned it over twice, the defense is doing a strong job only giving up 10 points thus far.

Kansas City Chiefs rookie Eric Berry didn't receive a 'Welcome to the NFL' hit. He doled one out.

On the first play from scrimmage for the Eagles, WR DeSean Jackson received a pass and a hit from Berry.

Though it may just be precautionary, it did knock Jackson out of the game. He missed practices this week with a back strain.

The Kansas City Chiefs have just two inactives for Friday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Both inactives are no surprise.

G Darryl Harris: He's been out several weeks with some sort of leg injury.

DB Maurice Leggett: He suffered what looked like a serious neck injury last week but appears ready to make a full recovery. Todd Haley says he'll be back "sooner rather than later."

That means RT Ryan O'Callaghan, who was injured last week, will indeed be active.
