Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki

Receiving: 12 receptions, 123 yards, 2 TDs

Through three weeks: Who saw this coming? After being out much of the preseason, Moeaki has exploded to be the Chiefs top receiver. Matt Cassel seems to be drawn to him and he's doing an excellent job coming down with tough catches, including the big one against San Francisco last week. Moeaki has to keep it up to be considered a solid fantasy play.

Advice: Keep him or sign him off the fantasy football waiver wire. He and Bowe are Cassel's favorite targets to this point and it's a good sign that twice in the red zone Cassel has found Moeaki for six. He's a good 40-60 yard per game player with the possibility of touchdown catches.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Chris Chambers

Receiving: 5 receptions, 53 yards, 0 TDs

Through three weeks: Chambers has pulled the best disappearing act on the Chiefs. You can partly blame the Chiefs offense for this one as they were pretty terrible but last week they put up 250 yards in the air and Chambers accounted for a whopping one catch for five yards. He just hasn't been part of the offense to this point.

Advice: Don't play Chambers. He's not doing anything on the Chiefs offense. He's one of their deep threats -- a position predicated on speed -- and that doesn't go well with his age, 32 years old. Chambers at this point isn't worth a spot on your fantasy football roster.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe

Receiving: 7 receptions, 119 yards, 1 TD

Through three weeks: Dwayne Bowe has had a limited role in the first three weeks. He's not doing poorly as a player -- Todd Haley praised him for his blocking skills but of course that doesn't help fantasy football players. 45 of his 119 yards came on a trick play touchdown so I'm not sure you can count on that happening very much. Bowe's low stats are just as much about Cassel as it is him.

Advice: I'd be cautious with Bowe. The Chiefs passing offense will likely improve as the season goes along and Cassel gets a better handle on Charlie Weis so I wouldn't drop him but, for now, he's probably a better fit on the bench than on the field.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster

Rushing: 4 carries, 2 yards, 0 TDs

Receiving: 5 receptions, 78 yards, 1 TD

Through three weeks: A tale of two McClusters would be an accurate way to put it. In the first two games, he was invisible on offense with 12 total yards. We know he has the talent but the Chiefs hadn't featured him on the offense. In Week 3, he came alive with 69 yards receiving including a touchdown. The Chiefs, I think, are going to figure out how to get him the ball more.

Advice: I think McClusters on the rise at this point. He showed the Chiefs what he could do last week against the 49ers with a superb 31-yard catch and run for a touchdown. The Chiefs know they need playmakers and have shown a willingness to be a little risky so I suspect McClusters touches increase in the coming weeks. Still, though, he's been non-existent in a couple of the games on offense so you may want to wait him out and see how the Chiefs are going to use him.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel

Passing: 42-of-77 (54.5 percent), 494 yards, 4 TDs, 3 INTs

Through three weeks: Cassel struggled significantly through the first two-and-a-half games on the Chiefs 2010 schedule. He wasn't consistently hitting receivers, passing for very many yards per attempt or creating any sort of rhythm on offense. He hit his stride in Week 3 against the 49ers with three touchdowns and 250 yards but still only hit on 16-of-27 passes. Cassel's overall play has been disappointing but that Week 3 game shows there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Advice: I wouldn't start Cassel in any situation at this point. Statistically, he appears more likely to rank near the bottom of the pile than the top. He needs to put up a couple of games in a row like he did on Sunday and then we can start to believe in him.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles

Rushing: 34 carries, 238 yards, 1 TD

Receiving: 5 receptions, 92 yards, 0 TDs

Through three weeks: Charles has been frustrating at times for fantasy owners because he's averaging a whopping seven yards per carry and yet he hasn't had more carries than Jones in a game yet. However you want to slice it, Charles is once again playing out of his mind. NFL players simply don't average seven yards a carry -- and this isn't an aberration. He neared six yards per carry last year. He's been what we expect with Charles: catching balls out of the backfield, doing a lot with the ball every time he touches it and still a threat to score from anywhere.

Advice: The Chiefs say they operate on a matchup basis in regards to their running backs. Last week, they played a stout 49ers defensive line and you would think that would favor Charles, and not Thomas Jones, but it was Jones who received the majority of the carries. I suspect the Chiefs will go with Jones getting more of the touches for the foreseeable future but Charles is good enough that it doesn't matter a whole lot. He's averaging over 100 total yards per game.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones

Rushing: 52 carries, 217 yards, 1 TD

Receiving: 2 receptions, 6 yards, 0 TD

Through three weeks: Jones is going to be a good fantasy football play for a while, I think. The Chiefs haven't shown any signs of giving Jamaal Charles more carries than Jones to this point. Jones has been getting about 17 carries per game and he's putting up about 70 yards per game. He'll get the goal line carries, as well, meaning his fantasy football stock should be pretty solid from here on out. Despite the cries from the fans, don't look for Jones' carries to be reduced for some time. The Chiefs have reminded us on a few occasions that 16 games is a long time, perhaps a hint that Charles' role will increase in the second half of the season.

Advice: If you have Jones, keep him on the team. It doesn't appear the Chiefs will be thinking about giving Charles more carries until the middle of the season, at least.
