Earlier this week I suggested WR Chris Chambers would be a good fantasy football pickup for you because of some silly reason like he was "due" for a big game. Clearly I'm not a fantasy football expert because Chambers may as well have not even played.

In fact, outside of Dwayne Bowe's TD catch, maybe the Chiefs receivers didn't have to show up at all. Receivers on the Chiefs in Week 8 had 5 catches for 26 yards. A measly 5.25 yards per catch.

In contrast, the top three leading receivers were RB Jamaal Charles (61), TE Tony Moeaki (45) and TE Leonard Pope (20).

So what happened to the Chiefs receivers?

For one, KC didn't pass the ball much. Cassel dropped back to pass just 29 times in the game and the Chiefs rushed it over 40 times.

Tight end was also a position that has given the Bills trouble all year so I'm not that surprised the Chiefs put up some good numbers there.

Dwayne Bowe had a TD catch that, depending on how you look at the replay, he should have caught (the ball was slightly behind him).

The Chiefs receivers didn't have much of a part in the passing game. They were solid blocking for the Chiefs running backs but the production just wasn't there in the passing game.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 13-10 this afternoon in Kansas City. What was a rather boring game through three quarters turned into a back and forth thriller that ended with a Ryan Succop field goal with no time remaining in the game.

The Chiefs, who were able to find their fourth quarter killer instinct last week against the Jaguars, weren’t able to do it this weekend against the Bills. The Chiefs had repeated chances to shut down the Bills in the fourth quarter and overtime but either made poor play calls or plain didn’t make the plays necessary to win earlier in the game.

As expected, the Chiefs ran all over the Bills. As a team, KC rushed for 274 yards. Jamaal Charles had 177 of those yards. Dwayne Bowe added a touchdown catch, his fifth in three weeks.

Here are some major points that we’ll be touching on later today and this week:

Charlie Weis’ abandoning the running game in an overtime drive.

Todd Haley’s two timeouts, one which cost his team a first down in OT and another that erased a Bills’ OT field goal.

The Chiefs’ pass rush had a great game but missed some game changing opportunities.

The lack of a killer instinct in KC as the game wound down.

The Kansas City Chiefs just conducted a 12 play drive that netted them three points extending their lead over the Buffalo Bills to 10-3 in the fourth quarter. Of the Chiefs 12 plays on the drive, they threw it just once.

The Chiefs have been running all over Buffalo throughout the game. The Chiefs have over 200 rushing yards in this game. That's the third consecutive game they've gone over 200 team rushing yards -- a feat that hasn't been accomplished since the '70s for the Chiefs.

Jamaal Charles leads all rushers with 126 yards on 14 carries while Thomas Jones has 72 yards on 17 carries. Charles has also added another 45 yards receiving.

The Chiefs have been controlling this game but can't seem to pull away. The defense is playing very well shutting down the Bills run save their one scoring drive to this point.

The game will come down to the Chiefs defense and whether they can stop the Bills offense.

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking solid running the ball against the NFL's worst ranked rush defense, the Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs take a 7-0 lead into halftime largely thanks for the quick legs of Jamaal Charles. The Chiefs RB is at it again averaging nearly 10 yards per carry with 86 rushing yards on nine attempts.

The Chiefs have been moving the ball well on the ground but drives have been stalling when the Chiefs are asked to pass. Matt Cassel is 7-of-13 for 71 yards at halftime.

The lone score of the day came on a one-yard TD pass from Cassel to Dwayne Bowe, who now has five TD catches in the last three games. Truly impressive, particularly from a fantasy football perspective.

The story of the day for the Chiefs is the defense which is looking strong. They're generating a consistent pass rush on Fitzpatrick and even forced a pair of fumbles. Tamba Hali is getting after Ryan Fitzpatrick with a sack and a half today. Hali has seven sacks on the season now.

At the end of the first half the Chiefs lead the Bills, 7-0.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills are scoreless after one quarter of play in Kansas City. Even though they haven't scored the Chiefs offense and defense has looked better than the Bills.

The Chiefs big offensive play in the first quarter was a 32-yard Jamaal Charles along the left side. He has 41 yards on three carries while Thomas Jones has 16 yards on 5 carries.

Matt Cassel is 2-of-6 and the Chiefs have taken a couple of shots deep. Leonard Pope is your first quarter leading receiver with 14 yards.

The Chiefs defense has already forced a sack and a fumble thanks to Andy Studebaker and Tamba Hali.

The Chiefs are looking good early but it's just a matter of finishing the drives.

The Kansas City Chiefs listed three players on the injury report and all of them were questionable: WR/RB Dexter McCluster, G Ryan Lilja and S Reshard Langford.

And all three aren't playing.

The Chiefs have listed their inactives for the Buffalo Bills game and the big names are McCluster and Lilja.

Here's the full list of inactives: WR/RB Dexter McCluster, CB Jackie Bates. S Reshard Langford, LB Charlie Anderson, LB Justin Cole, G Ryan Lilja, NT Anthony Toribio and LB Mark Simoneau.

Slight surprises include Toribio at nose tackle. Simoneau was signed this week. This also means that WR Chris Chambers is active after being benched the last two weeks (partly due to injury).

The Chiefs will be McCluster-less for the first time this season. He hasn't been a significant contributor on offense but he does draw attention from the defense, which is important.

Either way, expect a heavy dose of rushes today from KC.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 4-2 and in first place of the AFC West. The Buffalo Bills are winless and in last place of the AFC East. That, and the seven point line, would suggest the Chiefs will take care of business against Buffalo. And maybe that's exactly what they want. Brian Galliford of Buffalo Rumblings tells me he hasn't seen teams come completely prepared for the Bills this year.

Honestly - and this answer may seem weird - but I think their biggest asset is the fact that they're winless. Or, at least it has been. Teams like Green Bay, New England, Jacksonville and most recently Baltimore looked completely unprepared to play professional football when they played the Bills. It's almost as if those teams spent their week of preparation sleep-walking through practices and snoozing during team meetings. Clearly, all of those teams beat the Bills, but Buffalo was competitive with all of them, if only for part of the game.

I do not think that will be a problem for the Chiefs. If there's one thing they've been this year it's prepared. The coaching staff is too good to overlook the Bills. Plus, the Chiefs haven't really accomplished anything this year so they can't be overlooking anyone.

Beyond that, Ryan Fitzpatrick and the passing attack are the biggest strength. They're making plays as long as they're not pressured too frequently. The Bills have the running backs to keep defenses honest and create balance, and right now, Buffalo's offense is humming along nicely.

Fitzpatrick is a legitimate concern for the Chiefs. For example, he nearly threw for 400 yards against the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs can't let him become part of the solution for the Bills.
