<p>SB Nation has released their <a href="http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2010/11/23/1832031/nfl-power-rankings-week-12-panthers-texans">Week 12 NFL power rankings</a> and the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.arrowheadpride.com/">Kansas City Chiefs</a> are ranked No. 14, which is a very fair ranking in my mind. The Chiefs were coming off of two consecutive losses -- both to division opponents -- so they deserved to be dropped the last couple weeks.</p>
<p>This week though the Chiefs walk away with an impressive 31-13 victory over the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.revengeofthebirds.com/">Arizona Cardinals</a>. The Chiefs were expected to win big and that's what they did.</p>
<p>So the Chiefs are at No. 14, which means there are 13 teams ahead of them. Here are those teams: <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/san-diego-chargers">Chargers</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.bigblueview.com/">Giants</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.windycitygridiron.com/">Bears</a>, Bucs, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/">Saints</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/">Steelers</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/">Ravens</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.stampedeblue.com/">Colts</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/">Eagles</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.ganggreennation.com/">Jets</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/atlanta-falcons">Falcons</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/">Packers</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.patspulpit.com/">Patriots</a>.</p>
<p>The Giants and Colts are the only teams that have the same 6-4 record as the Chiefs. The Giants won five in a row before hitting their current two-game skid so I'm comfortable putting them ahead of the Chiefs. They've been in a tougher division anyway, I think. The Chargers are a team the Chiefs have beat and they have a 5-5 record, which is worse than the Chiefs' record. I put the Chargers ahead of the Chiefs because they're simply playing better football over the last month. The Chargers have won three in a row and looked impressive doing it while the Chiefs have won just one of their last three.</p>
<p>The Bears and Bucs are two other teams I considered ranking behind the Chiefs. However, they've both been doing what the Chiefs haven't done consistently -- beat the teams you should, or teams with losing records. That's all the Bucs have done en route to a 7-3 record. The Bears don't have a ton of impressive victories -- Packers in Week 3 is a big one -- but they have the top defense in the league.</p>
<p>So the Chiefs sit at No. 14 where I think they'll stay for a while. I could see the Bears, Bucs or Chargers faltering but after that I'm not sure who's going to fall out of the top 13.</p>

<p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.arrowheadpride.com/">Kansas City Chiefs</a> are a difficult team to figure out in NFL power rankings, particularly for Week 12. On the one hand, they're 6-4 and in first place of their division. That alone would make them a candidate for the top 10 in any power rankings (although the 5-5 NFC West leading <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.fieldgulls.com/">Seattle Seahawks</a> may disagree). The Chiefs have, for the most part, been beating the teams that they should (not counting the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.milehighreport.com/">Denver Broncos</a> blowout) and losing to the teams that they should. There are a couple exceptions but that's mostly the way its gone.</p>
<p>So where should KC be ranked?</p>
<p>Teams with a better record than KC: <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.patspulpit.com/">New England Patriots</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.ganggreennation.com/">New York Jets</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/">Pittsburgh Steelers</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/">Baltimore Ravens</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/">Philadelphia Eagles</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/">Green Bay Packers</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.windycitygridiron.com/">Chicago Bears</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/atlanta-falcons">Atlanta Falcons</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.bucsnation.com/">Tampa Bay Buccaneers</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/">New Orleans Saints</a>.</p>
<p>These are 10 teams with a better record than the Chiefs. Now, I'll argue that KC is better than both Chicago and Tampa Bay. I can see the rankings going either way but, as a homer for the Chiefs, I'm taking KC over both those teams.</p>
<p>Teams without a better record than KC that could potentially be ranked ahead of them include, the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.stampedeblue.com/">Indianapolis Colts</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/san-diego-chargers">San Diego Chargers</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.bigblueview.com/">New York Giants</a>.</p>
<p>If KC was below all the teams we mentioned, that would put them at No. 14. I think they should be ranked ahead of Chicago, Tampa Bay and San Diego moving them to No. 11 as the max.</p>

<p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.arrowheadpride.com/">Kansas City Chiefs</a> beat the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.revengeofthebirds.com/">Arizona Cardinals</a> on Sunday to move their record to 6-4 meaning they can expect to jump a little in the various <a href="http://kansascity.sbnation.com/kansas-city-chiefs/2010/11/22/1829808/nfl-power-rankings-week-12-green-bay-packers-kansas-city-chiefs">Week 12 NFL power rankings</a> that will be released on Tuesday. Peter King of SI.com has his "Fine Fifteen" and puts the Chiefs at No. 13.</p>

<div style="overflow: hidden; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">It's not hard to beat Arizona badly. But the one thing I like about what the Chiefs did against the Cards was extend offensive drives, and get a good, steady game from quarterback Matt Cassel. He needs to link a few of those together.<span></span>
</div>
</blockquote>
</div>
<div style="overflow: hidden; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">Matt Cassel's play isn't much of an indicator of how the Chiefs will do. He's played poorly before -- against San Diego in Week 1 -- and they won. He's played well before -- against the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.milehighreport.com/">Denver Broncos</a> in Week 10 -- and they've lost. It's the running game that really matters.</div>
<div style="overflow: hidden; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;"><br></div>
<div style="overflow: hidden; color: #000000; background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; border: medium none;">When Cassel is playing well AND the Chiefs running game is playing well, these guys are tough to beat. We're not ready to crown the Chiefs yet but when they're on, this is a very good team.<br>

<p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/">Green Bay Packers</a> may have solidified themselves as the top team in the NFL. OK, "solidify" is not the right word but the Packers definitely moved themselves into the conversation with the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.ganggreennation.com/">New York Jets</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.patspulpit.com/">New England Patriots</a>. It's no longer assuredly one of those teams at the top in the NFL power rankings for Week 12.</p>
<p>The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.arrowheadpride.com/">Kansas City Chiefs</a> meanwhile reestablished themselves as a potential top 10 team. The Chiefs took care of business against Arizona on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, as they were expected to do. The Chiefs are now 6-4 and in sole possession of first place in the AFC West.</p>
<p>So where do you put them in Week 12 NFL power rankings?</p>
<p>There's no doubt the Packers, Patriots and Jets are ahead of the Chiefs. So are the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.bleedinggreennation.com/">Philadelphia Eagles</a>, <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/">Pittsburgh Steelers</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/">Baltimore Ravens</a>. The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.stampedeblue.com/">Colts</a> are ahead of the Chiefs, too, as are the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/atlanta-falcons">Falcons</a> and <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.canalstreetchronicles.com/">Saints</a>. After that? You can make an argument on the remaining teams.</p>
<p>Are the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.bigblueview.com/">Giants</a> really better than the Chiefs after losing two in a row? I like the Bucs record but who have they played? The <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="https://www.windycitygridiron.com/">Bears</a> have a better record but I'm not sure they're better. The Chiefs will see next week if they're better than the top NFC West team.</p>
<p>The Chiefs should be hovering around 11-15 this week in NFL power rankings.</p>
