The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 10-6 today at Arrowhead Stadium in chilly Kansas City. The Chiefs’ offense dominated relative to the Broncos’ offense everywhere except in points.

KC had 359 total yards; Denver had 247. The Broncos only had 86 yards passing but did end up doing a great job running the ball in the second half. Denver ended up with 161 yards rushing to Kansas City’s 185.

Penalties played a big part in this game, both helping and hurting the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs are barely hanging onto a fourth quarter lead against the Denver Broncos on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. The Broncos just kicked a field goal to make it 10-6 in favor of the good guys.

The Chiefs are lucky to get out of the third quarter alive. Chiefs OT Barry Richardson was flagged a couple of times and eventually yanked off the field. When he hit the sidelines he screamed at and shoved an assistant coach on the sidelines. Richardson walked down the sideline before a coach came back to grab him and get him back in the game.

Also in the third quarter the Chiefs drove down to the two-yard line of the Broncos but elected to go for it on fourth down and Matt Cassel was sacked on the play.

WR Dexter McCluster took a third quarter handoff and fumbled the ball giving it back to the Broncos.

Overall, the third quarter wasn't a pretty one for KC. But they still lead 10-6 at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

The Kansas City Chiefs lead the Denver Broncos 7-0 with 1:15 remaining in the first quarter. QB Matt Cassel hit TE Leonard Pope in the end zone for a two-yard touchdown pass. The drive went 70 yards in 11 plays and took up over six minutes.

Cassel is now 4-of-7 for 51 yards and a touchdown pass. He has 23 touchdowns and four interceptions on the year. RB Jamaal Charles has carried the ball five times for 21 yards.

RB Thomas Jones had a 20-yard catch and run that set up the latest touchdown putting the Chiefs at the five yard line. Charles came in and moved it to the two-yard line. The Chiefs then brought out their goal line package with DE Shaun Smith and LB Mike Vrabel. Smith lined up at FB and Vrabel at TE.

The ball was snapped and Cassel faked a handoff to Jones, rolled right looking for Moeaki or possibly Vrabel but settled on Pope in the back of the end zone.

It's early but KC leads 7-0 after the first quarter.

The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday for game No. 12 this season. The Chiefs, 7-4, are looking to solidify their hold on the division lead. The Broncos enter the game with some momentum because they embarrassed KC the last time these two teams played.

I talked with Mile High Report this week and asked what Denver's biggest strength is at this point in the season.

The Broncos' biggest strength to me is the passing the ball. If there's one thing Josh McDaniels does better than any coach in the NFL, it's orchestrate a potent passing attack. Kyle Orton leads the NFL in this category, and the Broncos are also at the top of the league in passing plays of 20 or more yards.

The wide receiver group they have put together of Brandon Lloyd, Eddie Royal, and Jabar Gaffney leads the NFL in receptions as a trio. The Broncos also have a very skilled receiving back in Knowshon Moreno, who is extremely effective in that facet of the game.

You think KC knows this? The Broncos put on a clinic against KC in Denver this year.

The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting the Denver Broncos on Sunday and KC is hoping this game doesn't go the way the last one did when the Broncos embarrassed the Chiefs, 49-29. That week Knowshon Moreno hit 100 yards on the ground and KC looked overmatched defensively. The Chiefs on the other hand couldn't rush the ball at all. They got down early taking the run game out of the equation but even in that first quarter they weren't very effective.

I talked with Mile High Report this week and asked: Can Denver stop the Chiefs run game again or was it a fluke last time?

That was not a fluke. The Broncos have been able to key in on teams with good running games. Look at Maurice Jones-Drew, Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson, you mentioned Charles and your top ranked attack--the only game that goes against the grain here is the Oakland game, when the Raiders ran up and down the field on the Broncos.

For the most part, though, if they face a top running team, Don Martindale has done a good job of keying in on that aspect and stopping the run, forcing the other team to beat us via the pass.

I hope the Chiefs run it all day long. Looking at the stats, the Denver game was an aberration. I don't expect that to happen again.

The Kansas City Chiefs are playing the Denver Broncos for the second time this season. If the last game is any indication, this will be a pass heavy attack for the Broncos, who lit up the Chiefs for three first quarter passing touchdowns last time around.

I talked with SB Nation's Mile High Report this week and asked: Is there any reason the Broncos won't be able to throw the ball against the Chiefs like they did last time?

I really don't think so. Especially with the news that Brandon Flowers will not be playing, I think you'll see an aerial assault once again. The Broncos went into Kansas City last year and completely bludgeoned the Chiefs, and you can usually throw out the records when these two teams play. The rivalry had some gas added to its flame after the game the last time these two teams met when Todd Haley refused to shake McDaniels' hand. I think this one could be chippy at the start.

Kyle Orton and the passing attack have found a groove on opening drives the last three games. It's really funny, because Broncos fans were so distraught at this team's lack of success scoring in the first quarter, and despite scoring on the first drive in each of the last three games, the Broncos are only 1-2.

Without Flowers, though, it will be hard to stop the Broncos' passing attack, even though the Chiefs' secondary is still very talented.

The way I see it: In 10 games this year, KC hasn't been beat up like they were at Denver. I'm going to lean towards the Chiefs not letting this one get out of control like a few weeks ago.

The Denver Broncos are coming into Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday to play the Chiefs and there's not much to play for if you're Denver. They're 3-8 and out of the playoff hunt. Ruining the Chiefs season perhaps is part of the motivation but other than that...what does a 3-8 team play for?

I asked that question to Mile High Report this week in preparation for Sunday's Chiefs-Broncos game. Will the Broncos continue to fight this season?

The Broncos might be out of the playoff hunt, but they can still ruin it for the Chiefs, Raiders, and Chargers. The Broncos have games against those three teams, the Cardinals, and the Texans. They might not be able to stop anybody, but the Broncos have proven a few times this year that they can put up some points. Based on that fact alone, I don't think you will see this team give up, and I certainly don't think they will quit on the coach. From what we have read or heard from players, McDaniels is a well-respected coach. The players know how much this team means to the fans, and we at least hope they do everything in their power to make sure they don't reach double-digit losses.

Somehow I think Denver will get as much satisfaction out of ruining the season for the rest of the division foes as winning it themselves.

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their inactives for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos and there are a couple of surprises.

S Kendrick Lewis is inactive, which isn't a major surprise by now but Lewis was originally listed as probable for the game. On Saturday he was downgraded to questionable. He also missed the Chiefs Week 10 game against the Broncos.

WR Chris Chambers is inactive, which is a surprise. WR Dexter McCluster is returning this week so maybe that's part of the reason. This is the third time we've seen Chambers come out inactive with no real explanation.

CB Brandon Flowers is active today, which is good news. He was questionable and reportedly not expected to play. Just because he's active, though, doesn't mean he'll play.

Here's the full list of inactives: S Kendrick Lewis, CB Mike Richardson, CB Jackie Bates, FB Tim Castille, LB Charlie Anderson, C Rudy Niswanger, WR Chris Chambers and NT Anthony Toribio.
