Either the 13th ranked Missouri Tigers are really, really good or the Iowa State Cyclones are really, really bad. Maybe a combination of both helped Mizzou top Iowa State, 87-54, on Saturday night at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers had a ton of stars and handed Iowa State one of the worst losses they've ever seen.

As we noted before the game, we really weren't sure who Iowa State was at this point in the season. According to Mizzou on Saturday night, they're not very good.

Ricardo Ratliffe had six blocked shots, six rebounds and 12 points as one of five Mizzou players in double digits. Michael Dixon had 15 points and eight boards while Kim English added 12 on 3-of-10 shooting. Marcus Denmon was 6-of-11 from the field scoring 13 points and Justin Safford added 11. Laurence Bowers was just 2-of-10 from the field but added seven rebounds.

Here's what head coach Mike Anderson said after the game:

"Rebounds were the key to the game for us. I really appreciated the effort we got from Mike Dixon. It shows that our players are quick to the ball. They're a team that thrives from the three-point line, and I thought we did a good job of rotating around to guard their shooters on the perimeter. Both teams took more than 70 shots, so the team that played the best defense outside was going to be in a better position (to win)."

Iowa State shot just 27 percent from the floor while Mizzou was was 43 percent. This game wasn't close from the start and Mizzou showed they're clearly a better team. Iowa State hasn't played like this all season so maybe it was an aberration for maybe they're just a bad matchup for Mizzou.

Whatever the reason, Mizzou moves to 17-3 on the season and 3-2 in the Big 12. Check out Rock M Nation for more on the game.

The Missouri Tigers will host the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday night at Mizzou Arena and the oddsmakers say Mizzou is favored by 9.5 points. With Big 12 conference play starting, we're getting a pretty good idea of what each team is about but that's not the case right now with Iowa State.

Bill Connelly of SB Nation's Rock M Nation has a terrific preview of Saturday's game as he tries to figure out who Iowa State is.

They played nobody of any value in non-conference season -- their best four opponents were California, Northern Iowa, Virginia and Iowa, against whom they went 2-2 -- but they rather easily handled every cupcake in their path and entered conference play at 13-2. They've only gone 1-3 in conference, but it's agood 1-3; they whipped Baylor at home and only fell to Kansas by five, and they've lost a one-pointer (to Nebraska) and an overtime game (to Oklahoma State) on the road.

He comes up with the conclusion that they don't do anything incredibly well but they also don't do anything very poorly. If Missouri plays their game the way we've seen them this year, they can beat them. But if they struggle, Iowa State is well-rounded enough to make it a game.

It should be an interesting one Saturday night at Mizzou Arena. Check out Rock M Nation for more on the game.

Mike Anderson and the 13th ranked Missouri Tigers will host the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. (CT) in Mizzou Arena. Missouri announced this week they were nearing a sellout of all the remaining home games so on a Saturday night I imagine the crowd will be ready to roll.

The Tigers, 16-3, are looking to improve their Big 12 record to 3-2. Anderson calls Iowa State a "dangerous" team.

So now we get a chance to play against this Iowa State team, that's a very dangerous team. I got a chance to watch them play some of that Oklahoma State game and they were actually in position to win that game, and the one thing you got to be able to do when you go on the road is shoot the basketball.

Missouri is a heavy favorite -- nine points -- so Iowa State can't be that dangerous. At his weekly press conference, Anderson broke down the Cyclones and how they play their game.

They got some guys that can really shoot the basketball. (Jamie) Vanderbeken, he had six three's last night and in a previous game I think he had seven three's. Of course we know Diante Garrett is one of the better guards in our league... I think one of the better guards in the country. His size, he handles the basketball, he's scoring at a pretty good clip for them now. Scott Christopherson, he's a guy that can shoot the basketball as well, so it seems like they're playing at faster pace. They are averaging more points than they have in the previous years so I think (Fred) Hoiberg has done a tremendous job with this basketball team.

I'm taking Missouri 79-65 at home. They got back on track last week beating Kansas State after losing two of three. Mizzou is back and they'll win this one.
