On Feb. 11 Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self announced Thomas Robinson would be out approximately two weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a meniscus tear on his knee. At the time of the injury, we were pinpointing the Oklahoma Sooners game on Saturday, Feb. 26 as his most likely return.

We were wrong. On Monday morning Self said Robinson may play on Monday night against Oklahoma State and that's what he did suiting up in a 92-65 victory over the Cowboys.

At the beginning of the game, ESPN's Holly Rowe reported Robinson would play about 10 minutes per the advice of team doctors, and that's exactly how long he played. He scored six points on 2-of-2 shooting, including 2-of-4 from the free throw line, as well as six rebounds.

Here are a couple of post-game quotes from Robinson:

On how it feels to get back on the court: "It felt great. I've only been out about a week and a half, but sitting out that long, for me, was annoying. I couldn't wait to get out on the court, so it was a great feeling."

On if he was rusty at all today: "Was I rusty? Did I look rusty?"

Six points and six boards in 10 minutes of action? If he was rusty, it sure didn't look like it.

Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self announced on Friday night that forward Thomas Robinson had suffered an injury in Monday's victory over the Missouri Tigers. According to Self, Robinson suffered a meniscus tear in that game, underwent surgery on Friday and is expected to miss approximately two weeks of action.

That news was a little surprising because we didn't know about any injury to Robinson. Self told Gary Bedore of the Lawrence Journal-World that he injured it while dunking against Mizzou.

"When he fell (after dunking), his knee buckled. It's been bothering him since the game and we did an MRI on him this morning and found out he had a (slight) meniscus tear in his right knee," Self said. "Surgery was performed (Friday). It went well, but he will be out on either side of two weeks depending on how progress goes. It could be a little shorter, could be a little longer."

We can't confirm but we believe this is the dunk he hurt it on:

Kansas will be OK without Robinson (and Josh Selby) on Saturday but, with a two-week timetable, the question of if, instead of when, he'll return this season does crop into your head.

The surgery was to repair a meniscus tear and was said to be a success.

(Editor's Note: Original KU release said it was an MCL injury but the KC Star's Brady McCollough clarified it as a meniscus tear and the release has since been corrected.)

He's expected to miss two weeks, Self said in a statement.

This is surprising news and apparently no one knew until this morning.

If he's out two weeks, he'll miss Saturday's home game against Iowa State, a Valentine's day road trip to Manhattan to play Kansas State, home games against Colorado and Oklahoma State and possibly a February 26 matchup against Oklahoma.

This won't kill KU's chances by any means -- they're too good all around for any one player to significantly hurt them -- but Robinson was an important piece of the puzzle. It'll be interesting to see how they close out their conference schedule without him.

Robinson is averaging 8.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this year. He missed time earlier after the death of his mother.
