Last week, Duke was ranked No. 1 in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today polls. After they lost to Virginia Tech over the weekend, we knew they would fall. Kansas was ranked No. 3 in the AP poll and No. 2 in the coaches poll. Ohio State was ranked No. 2 in the AP poll and No. 3 in the coaches poll.

Both polls have been released and Ohio State is No. 1 and Kansas No.2 in both polls. BYU, Duke and Pittsburgh round out the top five followed by Purdue, Texas, Notre Dame, San Diego State and Wisconsin.

Kansas finishes the season against two quality opponents so they'll have a chance to move back up to the top. On Wednesday, they'll play Texas A&M and then they'll head to Mizzou next weekend.

Speaking of Mizzou, the Tigers dropped two spots in the AP poll from No. 20 to No. 22. They lost to Kansas State on Saturday and, while Kansas State isn't ranked as well as Missouri, they're playing very well right now so it's not a terrible loss.

Kansas State isn't ranked but they are "also receiving votes" so that's a start. K-State has won six of their last seven games and they're going to be a dangerous tournament team in both the Big 12 and NCAA.

The college basketball rankings weren't kind to the Kansas Jayhawks this week -- at least not the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll. Last week, Duke was ranked No. 1, Kansas No. 2 and Ohio State No. 3 in the coaches poll.

Duke lost to Virginia Tech over the weekend so we knew they would be falling. It made sense then that KU would jump to No. 1 with Ohio State behind them.

Nope, that's not how it went. Ohio State leaped Kansas to take the No. 1 spot, Kansas stays at No. 2 and BYU moves up to No. 3. Kansas is just four points behind Ohio State for the top spot. At No. 4 is Duke following by Pittsburgh, Purdue, Notre Dame, Texas, San Diego State and Wisconsin. As we said, Duke lost to Virginia Tech while Texas and San Diego State also lost. Ohio State (17) and Kansas (14) were the only two teams to receive first place votes.

Kansas this week will play Texas A&M and Missouri -- two difficult teams to finish out the schedule. if they sweep those, they'll have a strong case for No. 1 before the conference tournaments. Check out Rock Chalk Talk for more on Kansas.

Texas has now lost two of their last three games and are on their way to missing out on a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Texas hosts Kansas State on Monday night and a loss wouldn't only hurt them in NCAA tournament seeding -- but it could also cost them the Big 12 regular season title. Texas and Kansas are tied at 12-2. Check out Burnt Orange Nation for more on Texas.

The Missouri Tigers were ranked 21st last week and lost to a hot Kansas State team on Saturday. That loss nearly bumped Mizzou out of the top 25 but they stay in at No. 24. Check out Rock M Nation for more on Mizzou.

In other Big 12 action, Texas A&M was 17th last week and drop to 22nd this week. Check out I Am The 12th Man for more on Texas A&M.

The Missouri Tigers are 22-7 on the season and 8-6 in the Big 12 coming off of a week that includes an 18-point victory over Baylor and a 10-point loss to Kansas State over the weekend. Mizzou was ranked No. 20 last week, one spot ahead of the Texas A&M Aggies.

We've already looked at the shake-up in the top 10 but which way will Missouri go?

With that loss, I'd normally stay they'd drop, and they still might. No. 24, 22, 21, 18, 15, 14 and 13 all lost this week meaning Mizzou's not alone in adding a L. Plus, Mizzou lost to a hot Kansas State teams that's won six of their last seven games.

Whether they move up slightly, or drop a couple of spots, Mizzou's going to end up being ranked around 20ish and I think that's about fair. Missouri, I think, has the ceiling to be a team closer to the top 10. Unfortunately, they don't play their best every week. Well, let me rephrase that -- they don't play their best every week when they go on the road.

So we expect a good-sized shake-up in the top 10, and probably in the bottom half of the rankings as well. The ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll and AP poll will be released mid-to-late Monday morning.

Mizzou fans, check out Rock M Nation for more on the Tigers.

Could Kansas become the No. 1 team in the country? Maybe it's not likely, but it's possible. The latest college basketball rankings will see a shake-up after a week in which five top 10 teams (in the AP poll) lost a game.

That starts at the top with No. 1 Duke, who lost to Virginia Tech over the weekend.

No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Kansas kept their record clean and didn't lose this week. No. 4 Pittsburgh and No. 5 Texas both lost this week -- Pittsburgh to Louisville and Texas to Colorado -- meaning both of those teams can expect to tumble. Also losing was No. 6 San Diego State to No. 7 BYU. No. 8 Purdue and No. 9 Notre Dame won both their games this week so they'll be moving up, perhaps multiple spots. No. 10 Arizona also lost last week.

So breaking this down, the Kansas Jayhawks and/or Ohio State Buckeyes will be No. 1 after this. OSU was in second with the previous rankings so I imagine they get top billing. Plus, Kansas didn't exactly impress the last time they were No. 1 losing within just a few hours to Kansas State (and losing big).

There's also the question of what will happen to Texas. Until playing Nebraska last week, they were arguably the hottest team in the country -- Bill Self said they were the hottest -- and making a statement that they deserved consideration for the top spot int he AP poll.

And then they lost to Nebraska. And then they lost to Colorado. Yeah, so no dice on the top spot.

The rankings will be released late Monday morning.
