Hard to put Monday evening's 4th of July loss for the Royals to the Chicago White Sox into words, but it was what it was, a 5-4 White Sox win.

Coming off of an impressive 16-8 win over the Rockies on Sunday to avoid being swept, Kansas City got out to an early 2-0 lead as Jeff Francoeur hit his 12th home run of the season in the first inning after Melky Cabrera had singled.

Kansas City had a 3-0 lead, before the White Sox came back to tie and take a 4-3 lead in the eighth inning facing Royals reliever Aaron Crow, who had been named to the American League All-Star team on Saturday. With one on and no one out in the bottom of the eighth, Adam Dunn went deep for his eighth home run of the season.

The Royals tied the game in the top of the ninth when Eric Hosmer his his seventh home run of the season on the first pitch he saw facing Sergio Santos to tie the game.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two on and two out, home plate upmire Ed Rapuano called a balk on Crow to give the White Sox the balk-off victory.

Kansas City falls to 34-50, while Chicago improves their record to 43-43 overall. Santos picked up the win to even his record at 3-3, while Crow is 2-2 after taking the loss.
