Every list tends to say the same thing about the Kansas City Chiefs. First, they always hover somewhere around No. 20. Then they always note the three game winning streak that has turned the Chiefs' season around with consecutive wins over the Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts and the Oakland Raiders, who the Chiefs shut out just last weekend. The New York Post, however, delivers an interesting turn themselves.

After listing the Chiefs at No. 18 in the NFL in their Power Rankings column this week, Justin Terranova writes, "Kansas City can be in a three-way tie for first place if it beats San Diego at home on Monday night. Todd Haley went from nearly being fired to Coach of the Year candidate in three week."

Is it possible for Todd Haley to be a Coach of the Year candidate. If the Chiefs win the AFC West after going through such a horrific first three games as well as suffering the injuries they have, that's definitely a possibility. There's still a long way to go this season, but the Chiefs are clearly impressive at this point.

While they have the Kansas City Chiefs higher than most publications at No. 20, it’s clear they still aren’t that impressed by the recent three game winning streak that has the Chiefs back at .500 after a dismal start to the 2011 season. In their recent Power Rankings, Don Banks of SI.com says that the Chiefs need to prove something even after shutting out the Raiders last Sunday.

Banks writes, “Fine, Todd Haley. Don’t shave until your team loses again. But let’s not try to turn your facial hair into another year-long Brian Wilson-level sub-plot. As a motivating ploy or the creation of a persona, the whole growing my beard/mustache/goatee act is a bit tired by now. I applaud the Chiefs for fighting their way back to .500, but it might have had something to do with Kansas City playing the Vikings, Colts and QB-needy Raiders, more so than Haley’s decision to shelve the razor.”

Most other media outlets have the Chiefs in the same area — from No. 21 to 24. A win on Monday Night Football against the Chargers should propel them into the teens for the first time all year.

The Kansas City Chiefs have moved up from No. 24 to No. 21 in ESPN's week eight NFL power rankings after their dismantling of the Oakland Raiders this past weekend.

The Chiefs are now 3-3 after wheeling off three straight victories over the Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts and Oakland Raiders. The Chiefs opened the season with blowout losses to the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions, and dropped a heart-breaker to the San Diego Chargers in week three.

The Chiefs have had to overcome injuries to three of their best players and questions about their head coach and general managers' relationship so far this season. They came out on the other end of this as an improved team from what we saw against the Bills and Lions.

SB Nation’s Joel Thorman is a Chiefs man through and through as the Editor of Arrowhead Pride, so it’s no surprise that he has the Chiefs climbing in his latest edition of the NFL Power Rankings. What’s surprising, however, is that he’s maintaining a very realistic perspective on the team despite the newfound momentum, placing the Chiefs at No. 21 — right around the same place that other writers are placing the team as well.

Thorman writes, “Quietly, the Chiefs have moved on from their 89-10 combined loss in the first two games and come back to win three in a row. Believe it or not, KC can get a share of the AFC West lead by beating San Diego on Halloween night.”

If the Chiefs can beat the Raiders and Chargers two weeks in a row, there will be some significant movement up the standings and, consequently, next week’s Power Rankings. For now, it seems the mood is cautious optimism.

That should be expected, of course, as the Chiefs have won three in a row, including an impressive defensive shutout at division rival Oakland in which the KC defense looked unbeatable. Six interceptions will do that for you.

Boston's WEEI puts out a weekly power rankings and they have the Chiefs at No. 21 overall. They write, "It’s amazing that the Chiefs can actually be tied for first-place next week if they beat the Chargers. It was a terrible, injury filled month of September for the defending AFC West champs, but the Chiefs have bounced back nicely and now have won three straight games. They’ve improved in an array of areas. Defensively the Chiefs have allowed just 41 points in their last three games; they allowed 109 points in their first three games."

The Baltimore Sun doesn't rank anything past the Top 10, but it has the Chiefs as its "Biggest Rise" of the week. We'll continue to list new Rankings as they come out today.
