Tonight is the NFL's All-Star Game, also called the Pro Bowl, and it will definitely be void of many of its stars as the New England Patriots and New York Giants are instead getting ready to face off in the Super Bowl. This means that fans in Hawaii (or those watching the game wishing they were in Hawaii) won't be able to see players like Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Hakeem Nicks, Rob Gronkowski or Wes Welker. However, I'm sure those fan bases are quite glad to have their teams still alive for the Lombardi Trophy.

However, many will still be playing and showcasing their wares tonight, including Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs. Jared Allen will also be playing. Here's the rundown on what you need to know to catch the game.

Game date/time: Sunday, January 29, 6:00 p.m. CT

Location: Aloha Stadium, Honolulu, Hawaii

TV: NBC

Announcers: Dan Hicks will offer play by play while Mike Mayock and Doug Flutie will handle color commentary.

Derrick Johnson has been in the NFL for seven seasons now, and while his talent has never been questioned his ability to put it all together had. To culminate the end of his 2011 season, Johnson was named an outright member of the AFC Pro Bowl squad, not an alternate.

"It’s a great way to be appreciated for what you did on the field during the year," Johnson said of his 2012 Pro Bowl selection. "I know a lot of guys that should go don’t get to go, but when you get your first chance, like I have this year, it’s a blessing to go to Hawaii."

Johnson set a Chiefs franchise record for tackles in a season with 179, and more importantly entrenched himself as the leader of a Kansas City team dealing with regime change at the top. New head coach, uncertainty at the quarterback position and changes at various coaching levels will bring change at Arrowhead but Johnson and the Chiefs defense are the building blocks to grow own.

"He's the leader of the defense and he's just so consistent," said defensive end Glenn Dorsey, voted Johnson as team MVP. "He's always around the football and plays with a lot of effort. He just pretty much has the mentality of the team.

Its all about 2012 for the Chiefs, and their defensive leader has his sights on accomplishing much more than just a Pro Bowl invitation.

The Kansas City Chiefs are already represented by two players on their defense when it comes to the newly announced AFC Pro Bowl rosters for 2012 in Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson. Both players certainly deserve their honor given to them with the stellar seasons that they’ve enjoyed. Johnson has come out as one of the best overall linebackers in the NFL this season, and Hali remains one of the single best pass rushers in the league. However, another player also deserves consideration and his name is missing even from any “snubs” columns: Brandon Flowers.

The Chiefs cornerback is one of the best lockdown corners in the NFL and he even won AFC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season. He continually shuts down the opposing team’s best receiver and can stay with anyone in the NFL. For the year he ended up with 56 tackles and 4 interceptions including one for a touchdown.

The AFC picks at cornerback include Darrelle Revis, Champ Bailey and Jonathan Joseph. While the first two are locks, including Revis every year, Joseph is a toss up although it’s hard to argue with the difference that the Texans defense has made this year. Still Flowers is among the NFL’s best and that’s what the Pro Bowl celebrates.

The Kansas City Chiefs had an unfortunate season marked by team drama, the firing of head coach Todd Haley, several significant season-ending injuries and a locker room fight. However, that doesn’t mean that certain players didn’t enjoy incredibly successful years, and two of those are celebrated with the recent AFC Pro Bowl roster announcement.

Tamba Hali and Derrick Johnson will both represent the Chiefs in February’s Pro Bowl. Hali is among the NFL leader in sacks with 12, while Johnson already won one AFC Defensive Player of the Week award with his ability to make tackles from sideline to sideline and play the run as well as the pass.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be represented by linebackers Tamba Hall and Derrick Johnson in the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl.

The Chiefs were eliminated from the playoffs with a tough overtime loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 16. Their whole season has been somewhat disappointing as they've dealt with injuries from the beginning. They lost running back Jamaal Charles before the season started and quarterback Matt Cassel went on Injured Reserve half way through the season as well. Still the Chiefs, after going on a four-game winning streak, had an outside shot at the playoffs and that's because a handful of players stepped up.

Two of those players are outside linebacker Tamba Hali and middle linebacker Derrick Johnson. Johnson leads the Chiefs in tackles with 126 and he has sacked the opposing quarterback twice this season. His 126 tackles is the 10th most in the league. Hall is fourth on the Chiefs defense with 62 but he has racked up 12 quarterback sacks this season, the most on the team. Halls' 12 sacks are good enough to rank him at No. 8 in the NFL.

Even though the Chiefs' season is over after Week 17, they have a bright future in the AFC West, especially with these two linebackers.
