Super Bowl XLVI will be remembered for a lot of things -- from the second win for Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin to the Manningham catch -- but one thing that many are talking about is how great the city of Indianapolis was for those who had to cover the event. The day after the Super Bowl, many sportswriters were buzzing about the tremendous job the city did in hosting a sporting event of this magnitude. Check out the tremendous feedback via Twitter.

Jeff Darlington of NFL.com writes, "I'm convinced all Indy citizens were required to attain a 4-year degree in "How to be Nice" before being allowed into the city. Refreshing."

ESPN's Adam Schefter says, "Every NFL official and media person I spoke with agreed Indianapolis should become a regular part of Super-Bowl rotation. Super job, Indy."

Andrew Brandt of the National Football Post posted, "Indy was great, with a major assist from Mother Nature. Humble, Midwestern kindness on display. "Have a Super day!"

Perhaps the Indianapolis gig wasn't a one time thing after all.

Super Bowl ticket prices were sky high at one point. For most of us, they remained that way until the end. However, ticket prices did fall to the point where the cheapest available on Stubhub by game time was $750 that someone bought, according to Darren Rovell. The median price, he says, was $2,500 for a ticket. These figures were listed by Stubhub.

"Ticket prices are about 10 percent lower than last year," Stubhub's Joellen Ferrer told CBS Sports. "Which is interesting because you've got Boston, you've got New York and you've got rabid fans. The economy's a little better but I think a couple factors play in: you've got Indianapolis, which is not exactly the easiest city to go into and it's not the destination city that, say, New Orleans or Miami could be."

Next year that could change with New Orleans as the host of the 2013 Super Bowl.

Super Bowl XLVI was certainly an unforgettable world championship game, with the outcome determined on the final Hail Mary pass from Tom Brady, but it may not have broken last year's record viewership to become the most watched event in American TV history.

Sports Business Journal's John Ourand is reporting that the overnight rating for the game is a 47.8 rating, which is one tenth of a point less than last year's 47.9 rating. In addition, Ourand predicts that the total viewership numbers (released later today) won't eclipse last year's record setting mark by the Steelers and Packers (106.5 million viewers).

The overnight numbers were huge in Boston and New York, obviously, with Beantown scoring a 56.7 over New York's 49.7 rating. So far the biggest ratings winner is Madonna - the overnight rating for her halftime performance is a 48.3, higher than the game's total 47.8.

Tom Brady was able to congratulate the New York Giants for yet another Super Bowl win over his New England Patriots in the last four seasons. This time, he also realized that the Patriots just didn't do enough to win.

"We just didn’t make enough plays," said Brady. "First quarter we didn’t have the ball a ton, second quarter was a little bit better. Third quarter we started well. it came down to the fourth quarter, and they made some plays at the end. We just didn’t make the plays."

The issue for the Patriots were dropped passes down the stretch. Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez and Deion Branch all failed to grab passes from Brady at key moments down the stretch. While Mario Manningham made an incredible catch down the stretch to get the Giants in position to win, the Patriots' receivers were letting Brady down and kept the Pats from doing the same.

There's a time to talk trash. Then there's a time to be classy. James Harrison, for all of his talent playing linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, apparently hasn't learned the art of silence. The Steelers star took to Twitter today to vent an insult against the New England Patriots who lost the Super Bowl to the New York Giants tonight. The offensive statement? Harrison wrote, "Told you, cheaters never win!!!!!!!!!"

Not only does Harrison use exclamation points like a sixth grade girl in his Twitter account, but he also fails to realize that he's sitting at home while others are playing. There's a way to be classy and carry yourself as an icon and high-profile athlete. Then there's a way to look silly if you're in Harrison's shoes.

It's clear that Harrison told everyone long ago that he could care less by the way he carries himself. He's shrugged off fines for his style of play and it's clear he could care less about having the right PR for himself. Still it's a bit ridiculous to even call attention to yourself when you're not remotely involved.

The New York Giants were down two tight ends at one point in tonight's win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 46 in Indianapolis, but that didn't stop Eli Manning and company from doing what needed to be done. Now Jake Ballard will have time to do what needs to be done on his injuries, which are unfortunately many for the Giants' tight end.

Ballard reportedly tore his PCL in one knee and his meniscus in the other knee according to Adam Caplan. The Giants will be monitoring his progress, so it might not be surprising to see them address the position in the draft.
While opinion is obviously subjective and Madonna is going to have her detractors, even among some in our SB Nation network, It’s our take that Madonna put on one of the finest Super Bowl halftime shows in recent years — at least since U2 put some heart into the game with the 9/11 tribute.

While Madonna is definitely an older performer whose best days (and hits) are behind her, that’s the case every year besides the mess known as the Black Eyed Peas. Fergie and company were the worst Super Bowl halftime show possibly ever, so anything is a step up there. And Madonna’s provided at least a nice spectacle when watching someone older.

The reality is that Madonna’s crew put on a great show with decent showings of newer artists around her that never detracted from the main performer. In fact, they were likely underused. But this was Madonna’s show and she did well with it.

The stage was perfect and provided her dancers alongside her the chance to create a modern spectacle out of songs that have become iconic. From “Vogue” to “Like a Prayer,” the show flowed with unbelievable graphics all around and a strong stage presence that never went over the top while also never getting overrun by the sheer size of it all.

While it might not have been for everyone, it provided the perfect blend of entertainment for everyone while not becoming over the top like Janet or Prince and also didn’t bore like watching old rockers try to look young again like the Stones or The Who. Springsteen could perhaps stand along with Madonna as one of the best in recent years, but Madonna did just fine. Some have forgotten too easily how bad recent Super Bowls have been.
