Allen Chapman won the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week award after his three interception effort against Oklahoma State.

Kansas State Wildcats defensive back Allen Chapman has won the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week award following a three-interception game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Led by Chapman, the Wildcats defense ended the 44-30 win with four picks and five turnovers.

This is the second Walter Camp award that the Wildcats have picked up this season. Quarterback Collin Klein earned the Offensive Player of the Week honors back after their win over the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Chapman had two deflected passes and five tackles during his award-winning game, in addition to his three interceptions. His three interceptions tied him for the most in a game by a Wildcat in history, and was the first time that a K-State player accomplished the achievement since 1995.

Kansas State will try to remain undefeated as they face off against the TCU Horned Frogs in their game on Saturday at Amon G.
After quarterback Collin Klein left Kansas State's game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys with an undisclosed injury, backup Daniel Sams kept the Wildcats steady.

Backup quarterback Daniel Sams didn't do anything to jeopardize the Kansas State Wildcats' chances of beating Oklahoma State on Saturday following the exit of starter Collin Klein. Sams completed 5-of-6 passes for 45 yards and rushed seven times for 20 yards after Klein left the game in the third quarter of what would become a 44-30 victory.

Offensive lineman B.J. Finney praised the freshman from Slidell, La., per the team's postgame transcript:

"Daniel did a great job," Finney said. "He stepped right in and he knew what he needed to do. He was calling plays and checks, which were great checks. They were the same that Collin would have made. We just had to execute better up front in order to give him yardage and time."

Head coach Bill Snyder was a little more frank. He liked that Sams didn't make any large-scale mistake to hurt the Wildcats, but added that he missed an open receiver downfield. Snyder also said that Sams still is learning how to manage the game clock. The freshman ran out of bounds toward the end of the game when Kansas State was trying to milk time off of the clock.

The school has been quiet about Klein's injury, though some speculate that he suffered a concussion.

The Kansas State Wildcats are nearly a lock to claim a BCS spot in the college football postseason.

The BCS Standings are out after the weekend and Kansas State is at No. 2 after defeating yet another ranked opponent on Saturday. With their win over the Oklahoma State Cowboys, it's clear that the Wildcats are well on their way to winning the Big 12 and placing themselves firmly in a BCS bowl spot, even if they happen to lose near season's end.

Samuel Chi recently analyzed the BCS standings in Week 11 and came out certain of a few teams -- including Alabama and Kansas State. He writes:

"By winning two of their remaining three games, the Wildcats will clinch the Big 12 title and at worst a Fiesta Bowl berth. About the only way K-State would be shut out of its second BCS bowl appearance is if it goes 0-3 in its final three games ... not gonna happen."

No doubt that Bill Snyder will have his team focused and ready on the present task, but the future certainly looks bright as well. Another BCS bowl for the Wildcats only cement K-State's status as a national power under Snyder once again.

Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein reportedly played with a concussion on Saturday, during the Wildcats' win over Oklahoma State.

Although he still completed 16 of his 22 passes in a key win over Oklahoma State, Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein reportedly played with a concussion on Saturday according to Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports.

The senior quarterback initially looked to have injured his arm or wrist in the third quarter against the Cowboys, and was quickly taken to the sideline while backup quarterback Daniel Sams commanded the offense. Instead of an arm injury however, the report indicates that after Klein's lone scoring play of the night the senior did not even know that he had found the end zone.

Klein stood on the sideline without his helmet and watched the remainder of the game with his teammates, but this is clearly a very problematic issue for the No. 3 team in America. Even if Klein did not actually play with a concussion on Saturday, the possibility that he did is extremely serious for all involved.

Oklahoma State struggled with turnovers and kick coverage in Saturday night's loss to Kansas State.

The No. 24 Oklahoma State Cowboys' 44-30 loss to the No. 2 Kansas State Wildcats looked agonizingly familiar, writes Robert Whetsell of Cowboys Ride For Free.

The Cowboys turned the ball over five times and allowed a kickoff return for a touchdown in the loss. Three of the five turnovers resulted in touchdowns, with one coming immediately on an interception return for a TD from Kansas State's Allen Chapman, who picked off three passes in the game. Those events contradicted CRFF's keys to a victory, says Whetsell.

OSU had to play clean, no turnovers, short fields, or easy scores for the Wildcats.

Difference in the score? Fourteen points.

Easy scores? Fourteen points.

The pick 6 and the kickoff return.

Despite combining for four interceptions, Oklahoma State's quarterbacks were effective, as the Cowboys totaled 417 yards through the air. Clint Chelf, who came on in relief of the injured Wes Lunt, only threw one of those picks while completing 16 of 27 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown. Although Chelf made a few questionable decisions, Whetsell believes he should be the starter while Lunt is out:

...he should start the rest of the season. Lunt will be out for at least a week, and Chelf obviously showed some maturity that is lacking in the leadership of this offense. He made pretty good decisions most of the time, and his legs are enough to be a threat to scramble.

The Cowboys have a tough road ahead, facing three teams that are currently ranked -- West Virginia, Texas Tech and Oklahoma -- before closing out the season against a Baylor squad that can, if nothing else, put points on the board.

The Kansas State WIldcats continue to defeat one ranked opponent after another in a magical season that has the Big 12 leaders dreaming of a national title. For now, however, they hope to have their quarterback and leader, Collin Klein, back in time for next week after he left their victory over Oklahoma State with an undisclosed injury. \

"Obviously he was injured or we wouldn't have taken him out," Snyder said while also noting that he was questionable for next week against TCU.

The Heisman Trophy candidate left during the third quarter of K-State's 44-30 victory over the Cowboys, and it's clear that they are not the same offense without him. Despite a solid, efficient performance from Daniel Sams, the team's second string quarterback, the Wildcats offense stalled and settled for field goals after Klein's exit.

"I thought Daniel did reasonably well," said Snyder. "He did not make any major mistakes, he ran out of bounds one time when we were trying to run the clock out. He does not have that figured out yet. Aside from that, he managed the game OK. He had Chris (Harper) on a deep ball in the end zone that he did not get up in the air enough, but aside from that I thought he played well."

The Kansas State Wildcats defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 44-30. The stories of this game unfortunately revolved around injuries, as both starting quarterbacks exited the contest in the third quarter.

Cowboys quarterback Wes Lunt exited after taking a hard hit prior to throwing his third interception of the game. Heisman Trophy hopeful Collin Klein scored a rushing touchdown early in the third quarter, but Kansas State's star quarterback didn’t come back out for the team’s next offensive series.

Klein’s injury remains undisclosed, but he’s been seen shaking his wrist on the sidelines. Some have said that the Wildcats held their quarterback out as a precautionary measure given the team’s hefty lead.

Box Score Hero: Despite the many points put up by the Wildcats, there was not a standout player stats-wise since the team scored on offense, defense and special teams. Running back John Hubert only rushed for 38 yards on his nine carries, but two of them went for scores.

Rankings Ramifications: Though their loss was to the No. 2 team in the nation, Oklahoma State is likely to lose their top-25 BCS ranking. Kansas State should remain a top team, though the loss of Klein hurts in a big way.

But Did They Cover? Kansas State entered the game favored by 7.5 points, so they were able to cover the spread.

The Kansas State Wildcats enter the half with a 31-17 lead over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The first quarter ended knotted at 7-all, but Kansas State was in the middle of a long drive when the initial 15 minutes expired. Kicker Anthony Cantele capped off the 74-yard drive with a 23-yard field goal, putting the Wildcats up 10-7.

Oklahoma State running back Joseph Randle coughed up the game’s first turnover on the next drive. The Wildcats took over at the Cowboys’ 29-yard line, and they quickly turned the fumble into seven points. Quarterback Collin Klein drove the team down the field using his legs and arm, and running back John Hubert finished it with a five-yard touchdown run, putting Kansas State up 17-7.

The Cowboys responded, driving down to the Wildcats’ eight-yard line before settling for a 25-yard field goal off the foot of kicker Quinn Sharp.

Special teams then got involved in a big way. Kansas State wide receiver Tyler Lockett answered the field goal by returning the kickoff 100 yards for a score. Not to be outdone, Oklahoma State’s running back Desmond Roland took the next kickoff 80 yards to the house.

All three phases would get in on the scoring action prior to the half, as Oklahoma State quarterback Wes Lunt was intercepted by defensive back Allen Chapman, who returned the pick 29 yards for a touchdown.
