Graham Zusi got the call recently to become a part of the U.S. Men's National Team for World Cup Qualifying. What he didn't know at the time was that the call would also include a starting role on the team. With the Americans dealing with some injury issues, Zusi has stepped into the line-up tonight for the U.S. against Antigua and Barbuda in Friday's qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup.
Per the Associated Press report:
"Injuries and poor form caused coach Jurgen Klinsmann to switch away from some of his usual players for Friday night's match. Geoff Cameron starts at center back as Bocanegra moves to the left side. Graham Zusi gets a start in midfield, as does Danny Williams"
The U.S. took the first match against Antigua and Barbuda in June 3-1 and are heavily favored here as well despite the injuries.
Zusi has five goals and 11 assists on the season for Sporting KC.
