Sporting KC midfielder Roger Espinoza is expected to miss two to four weeks after suffering an ankle injury in KC's 1-1 draw with the Columbus Crew on Sunday, the club announced today.

Espinoza was carried off the field after suffering the injury during second-half stoppage time. He will return to Kansas City for more treatment after receiving and MRI and X-rays today.

The midfielder, who has two assists this season, will miss Sporting KC's final two regular season games, as the club has already secured a birth into the MLS Playoffs. KC, currently in first place in the Eastern Conference, finishes the regular season on Oct. 20 and 24 with matches against the New York Red Bulls and the Philadelphia Union.

Espinoza will also miss World Cup qualifiers for his native Honduras over the next week and a half. His native country is set to play Panama and Canada during the qualifiers.
