Sporting KC Inks Defender Shawn Singh

Sporting KC has announced the newest addition to its roster, signing defender Shawn Singh to a contract.

Singh played in three matches for Sporting KC during the preseason, highlighted by an assist in a 5-1 win over FC Tuscon.

Manager Peter Vermes offered this about Singh's game: "Shawn is a left-sided player who is very good on the ball. He has qualities that fit very well into our style of play and we're excited to see how he develops over time."

After walking on at UCLA in 2008, Singh finished an impressive Bruins career with 56 starts, including 10 assists. His play twice earned him conference honors, as he was a second-team All-Pac-10 defender in 2011 and an honorable mention All-Big-12 defender in 2012.

Singh looks forward to playing for Sporting KC, "I'm very excited to be a part of Sporting Kansas City. I have nothing but the best to say about the entire coaching staff and organization. I enjoy the style of soccer that is played here and I look forward to a great season with the club."
