With just four games remaining in the regular season, Sporting Kansas City is closing in on clinching a spot in the postseason, although the possibility still remains that they would not get in. However, a much more real concern for the team is holding off the Chicago Fire for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
Just two points behind Sporting KC, the Fire could take the top spot in the conference with a win when the two teams face each other on Friday night. Conversely, the home team can secure a playoff spot for themselves with a win over the Fire.
It's no easy task for Sporting KC though, as they have lost each of their first two matches to the Fire in 2012 and face a Chicago team that has wins in seven of their last nine matches.
Sporting KC has done for themselves too recently, avoiding a loss in each of their last 10 matches, with five wins and five draws during that span.
Game Date & Time: Friday, Sept. 28, 7:30 p.m. CT
