Sporting KC will try to hang on to the top spot in the MLS' Eastern Conference in a midweek matchup against the fourth-place Houston Dynamo on Sept. 14 in Kansas City.
With 50 points, Sporting KC (15-7-5) sits atop the Eastern Conference standings with a four-point lead over the New York Red Bulls.
The Dynamo (11-7-9) trail Sporting KC in the Eastern Conference standings by eight points, and are coming off a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Chicago Fire.
The game will be Sporting KC's first true test since the loss of forward Teal Bunbury. Burnbury tore his ACL and damaged his LCL when he leaped to make a pass in the team's 1-1 draw against the Red Bulls on Aug. 26. Last week's win over league-worst Toronto FC proved to be a bit tougher than fans would have hoped.
Kick off is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT at Livestrong Sporting Park and the game will be televised on NBC Sports Network.
